| Duties: | The Grants Manager is responsible for managing the entire grant application and reporting system for the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Drafting, developing, and writing letters of inquiry, concept papers and proposals in support of efforts to secure support for general operating and programs from public and private sources including government, foundations, corporate foundations, and individuals;
Conducting research on different areas of grants-making to identify new funding opportunities to pursue;
Managing large, multi-million dollar grants that are highly regulated by the government;
Budgeting and project management with attention to audits and legal issues;
Maintaining funder files, electronically and hard copy, and oversee tracking of submission and status report deadlines;
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with directors and staff in an effort to recognize and seek out targeted funding opportunities;
Coordinate reporting, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of information;
Continuously developing methods for expanding funding by attending relevant professional meetings, and community awareness meetings;
Negotiating defense contracts.

| Qualifications: | Ideal Experience and Qualifications:
Masters or PhD degree required;
Strong technical writing skills, preferably with previous peer-reviewed scientific publications;
Attention to detail;
Goal-oriented and hard-working;
Background in technology (engineering, biomedical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, or physics) required;
Experience with large governmental grants;
Experience with Department of Defense Contracts;
Experience with agencies such as the NIH, DARPA, DOE, DOD, NSF
2+ years of experience as a grants writer, or equivalent experience that demonstrates capabilities in the grants field;
Significant budgeting and project management experience with experience in ;
Able to write compelling program descriptions; stay abreast of trends and best practices in the grants writing and program fields;
Able to cultivate sophisticated and appropriate approaches to new sources of funding;
Proficient in word-processing, excel, development database, spreadsheet and other fund-raising software programs;
